Hello BP,

I am Tyler Widdison. I am 23 years old.  Cache Valley Utah is where I am from.  At the time of writing this I am stationed in South Korea getting ready to PCS to Germany.  I am a maintainer on the f16.

I became interested in REI 3 to 4 years ago when I was talking to my friend about ways not to get stuck working the job we had. He told me about rentals and how his parents had just bought their first unit. At the time I was paying for my college and vehicle, so I had no savings to invest.

This last year I started to get serious about my finances. I was looking at investment vehicles and figured real estate was too expensive to start. So, I started putting money into stocks. I recently stopped adding money to my account. I wasn't losing money, but I would only see $5-40 more than what I was putting in, and it jumped to the extremes daily. I decided stocks aren't my thing. I began to look for books about REI and found Brandon Turner's post "7 must-read books for real estate investors" on his website. That list included visiting this site. I felt like I struck oil when I saw the education material available here for free. After reading a few guides, I knew this was exactly what I had been looking for.

When I go home on leave I plan on picking the brain of my friend's dad.  I also have a real estate agent I'd like to talk to.

My area of interest is rentals.  I would like to know more about du/tri/fourplexs in the northern Utah area.

Thank you for taking time to read about me. If you have any questions, tips or just want to chat, feel free to contact me. I look forward to starting my REI journey and joining this community.

Hello Skyler,

My contract with the military is up August 2020.  Assuming my career field doesn't change, I won't be able to move back until then. However, I will be visiting Logan from time to time.  I'm not sure on the exact days yet, but I will be back early May for a few weeks. If I have a chance I'd like to attend an investor meet up.

And to John Van Uytven,

Thank you for the information.  I didn't know about the Seoul meet ups. Depending on how busy the next few weeks are, I might be able to attend one.
