Memphis, TN Newbie and excited to be here

Hey guys!

I'm Ethan Griffin and I am completely new to the real estate investing world. I graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with my bachelor's degree in Architecture and am working full time as an "Intern Architect" at a local firm in Memphis. About a month ago, my wife and I went to a free seminar hosted by one of those gurus. I invested in the workshop which was this weekend and learned an incredible amount of information about intelligently investing in real estate, and starting an effective business with that knowledge. Between the free seminar and the workshop, I used much of my time reading forums and blogs here and listening to the podcasts whenever I could. I learned a great deal through that which was backed up at the workshop. I went into the weekend knowing that I could not and would not spend the great deal of money to go to the next level of the program because it does not make sense for me in this time in my life. I am passionate about architecture and want to continue that full time now. All that said, I do not believe (nor will I ever believe) that I know everything about real estate investing.

To start, I am looking to narrow down the area in which I want to work here in Memphis, build good relationships with realtors, attorneys, contractors, and other investors in the area as I start this new adventure in my life. Any suggestions or tips are much appreciated and accepted.

Welcome, this is definitely a place to learn about investing and if Memphis is where you want to invest you will find many local people and companies to help you along the way.  Check out the Memphis Investor's Group.  They meet monthly plus there are other meetings within the group.  I made sure when I visited Memphis in March that I attended the meeting.

Good luck, David
