New to Hampton Roads of Virginia and Real Estate

I'd like to introduce myself, I'm Brandon and I'm new to the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. I moved to Norfolk VA for a job almost 2 years ago and started looking into real estate after my brother mentioned jokingly that it would be cheaper buying a house than renting from the prices that we were seeing. After looking into it I came across BiggerPockets and for almost a year I've read what seems like almost all of the blogs and all of the podcasts. So I figured it was about time I posted in the forums and got involved in the community. I don't have any experience with real estate but I think I'd like to start by house hacking with a triplex or 4plex and getting into multifamily investing. If anyone from the Hampton Roads area knows of any meet ups or REI groups I would like to start taking action and get the ball rolling!

@Brandon Shaw Welcome to BP. If you do a search of meetups in Hampton Roads you will find several REIA groups on both sides of the water. Hope to see you there.
