Real estate novice from Bay Area, California

Hi everyone, I am completely new to real estate investing but I'm very gung-ho about what I can learn from and contribute to this forum. I am a finance professional and my goals in the first 12-18 months are to educate myself in this field and gain the confidence to get into buy and hold residential real estate investing-- at least that is what I think I should be doing (for now). 

I am also joining a local real estate club and I'm excited to connect with my peers on BP. I am so glad that I found BP for the road ahead.
