New member, commercial loan analyst/underwriter
Hello all. my name is Mark and my home base is located in rural east Texas. Currently I'm a commercial underwriter for a smaller community bank, while my past work experience was as a financial advisor for a large firm.
Real estate investing has always been on my radar, but the majority of people I've met who are pursuing it seem to have 2-3 long term buy and hold rent houses and take on management of the property themselves. From the outside looking in, it seems like they have taken on a lot of debt themselves for the honor of being stressed out constantly and working for a few dollars an hour during their free time. Needless to say, it wasn't a really attractive value proposition from what I had seen.
I thought that was the only way to do real estate investing until I started reading more and analyzing commercial real estate deals. Now it seems obvious that my end goal should be commercial real estate and mutli-family properties. I look forward to reading and learning more from the community here.
