New Investor in the Tampa Area

Hey Everyone!

I'm an out-of-state newbie investor looking to get started in the Tampa market, including surrounding suburbs.  I am looking to acquire my first rental property within the next few months, and hope to continue building my portfolio in the years to come. 

I will be making a few trips to Tampa in the coming months, and would love to meet with other local investors.  If you have any advice or recommendations about the area, or if you'd be interested in meeting up for drinks and good discussion at any point, I'd definitely appreciate any help in starting this venture.  

I'm eager to meet those of you already so involved in this community.  I can't wait to get involved, and hopefully I'll be able to help contribute in the near future as well with all of the good experience I'm sure I'll attain.  Look forward to working with you all!

Hi Steve. Welcome to BP. I have a few questions you will want to think about before looking at properties. What type of rental property are you looking to purchase; single family or multifamily? What is your price range? What rate of return are you looking for? What is your hold period? Are you looking for turnkey or are you willing to do some rehab? Are you looking in the city of Tampa or the greater Tampa Bay area? There are many sub-markets of the Tampa Bay area that are very strong rental markets. I look forward to meeting and discussing your goals when you’re in Tampa.
