Newbee Starting out in Suffolk Va.
Hi BP members. My name is Jim Torrey and I think I would like to get into Real Estate Investing, but I don't know if it's too late for me to start. I'm 61 and just went out on disability because of a back injury. I've been working for a heavy construction company in the tidewater area of Va. as a superintendent for about 23 years. Before that I framed houses and built swimming pools in the New England area for about 22 years. I might not be able to do the work anymore but I can sure tell if a contractor is doing it right or not. As you know there are a lot of them out there without scruples just waiting to get over on someone who is not knowledgeable. I can walk through a house and see any defects that need to be addressed. I don't mind sharing my knowledge with anyone and maybe some of you could give me some of yours. I do know this. I "can" take it (knowledge) with me when I leave, but I would just as soon leave it here so someone else could use it. Maybe I can leave something behind for my family when I leave (which I hope will be many years from now. : ) ) other than just a memory. I have been looking at this for a couple of years now. Maybe I've got analysis paralysis so I might need help in breaking the spell. Any help or ideas that you have to help me out would be greatly appreciated. Any thing I can do to help you out, please ask.
