Hi All,
I have listened to the podcast on and off for a few months, but truly didn't have an interest in REI; in terms of where I am currently in my life. But recently, I got a new job in Pittsburgh that could have me staying here another 2-3 years and have been thinking it might not be a bad idea to look into buying my first home - and then renting when I move in a few years.
Do people do this? I really have no idea where to start as this is combining a live in home with a future rental property to start my portfolio.
Thanks!
Noah

@Noah Schettini I think you are on the right track ... the best thing I can think to tell you to look for is a 'fix-ably weird' house. Maybe it has a pink toilet and tub in the master bathroom ... maybe the work triangle in the kitchen is super long, find some flaw in the house that can be addressed slowly over time without spending a fortune (or a set of flaws, even better). These things can create a large drop in the retail price of a home without making it unlivable.
