Hi! My name is Evelina Neufeld. I am married to a wonderful man named Pete who is a journeyman Welder by trade while I am a certified Massage therapist. The last few years we have been focused on learning about finances and good investments as a way to eventual take the step to invest. We purchased our home in May of 2015 mostly because the man selling it put the idea of owning a house while someone else pays for it in our head. It sounded good so we jumped on it and now here we are! We live in the 2 bedroom upstairs unit (which he said he rented for $1100) and I am currently fixing up the 2 bedroom basement suite which rents for $900). Also the garage has been rented out as a storage unit for $200/mo. The house is in a solid location and has great bones as far as we know so no buyers remorse yet (fingers crossed it stays that way!). So far the numbers more than add up and now is like to find out what it takes to expand and keep going. I have always been interested in flipping houses, owning rentals etc but I feel that I lack a lot of the practical knowledge I need in order to avoid many of the first time pitfalls. At this point I'm looking at mostly rental investments but I'd like to branch into fixer uppers once I get a better understanding of market trends and what it actually takes to own more than one property. My goal here is to talk to people with experience who can help me figure out what my next move should be. I've been slowly educating myself and now I think I'm ready to connect with people and see where it goes. Thanks in advance for connecting with me on this journey!
