Galveston, TX vacation homes

Good day BP!  My husband and I currently own 6 single family rentals and have had very good tenants and experiences over the last several years since we started this venture.  We are now looking into the market in Galveston, TX for a vacation rental.  I am hoping to find something to use for our own "weekends away" during the off season and rent during the many months in Galveston, TX that are appealing to vacationers.  My question is that it seems there are almost a glut of vacation homes already in Galveston.  Should we look more toward a multi-family that would have one solid renter and then use the other portion (in the case of a duplex) for ourselves and try to rent it out also when we could?  It sounds a lot more doable with having at least part of the place rented full time.  If anyone can offer any insight it would be very much appreciated.
