Buyer in Houston

My wife and I sold our house, and the buyer wanted to scrape it before the end of the year.  So although we had to get out in a hurry, we have a big lump of cash; we want to buy a house that only cash can get, and this seemed like a community that I should be paying attention to.  (We're living with a friend in another part of town.)  Making it more complex is the fact that Houston real estate is about to get hammered as the oil companies start to bleed overpaid execs.  About the only thing we want to know is, "how do we find our one good deal?"
