Curious investor from Brooklyn

Hi there,

I'm new to the site and looking to learn more about real estate investing. I'm in my early 30's, and currently rent (stabilized) in Brooklyn. I've got a decent paying job and a bit over 200k saved up.

I hope I'm not out of place posting here, since most of the members here seem to be full time real estate professionals (I work in tech). But since it seems like a welcoming community, I'll try my luck anyway :)

My short term goal is to learn what options are available to me in terms of investments. For example, I'm interested in how real estate investment plays with the Alternative Minimum Tax. My long term goal is to put my money to work generating low effort, passive income. I've started reading "the book", and I'm lurking in the forums while listening to the podcasts. Any advice, thoughts, or recommendations would be welcome.

Cheers!

welcome!

Yes, people of all "levels" are on BP. The weekly webinars are great too.
