Architect from Buenos Aires, living in Texas
Hello world!
I joined BP months ago and whenever I had the time, I joined several Webinars, read some books and listened to The Bigger Pocket Podcast. Not only have I been learning from you, but having fun as well! It is time to introduce myself.About me:
I am an architect from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I studied at the University of Buenos Aires, School of Architecture, Design and Urbanism. I have experience designing and executing small residential and commercial projects; including custom furniture, interior and lighting design. Before we moved here, I was working as a Project Manager. I had also participated as an independent writer in an architectural magazine "Hacia donde crecen las ciudades" (Where cities are growing towards). I truly enjoy every area related to architecture!
My husband and I were relocated in Fort Worth, TX, three years ago. Since then, I became an active member of the AIA (American Institute of Architects), being part of several committees: Design and Awards, Homes Tour, Exhibits, Honors and Awards, and Emerging Professionals. At the same time, I started working for a great FW architecture firm, as an Architectural Intern (as I don't have my license here yet).
About my REI:
I bought my first apartment, designed and managed the renovation when I was 23 years old. My husband and I lived there until we moved to FW, and since then, we 've been renting it. Honestly, it has not been easy to manage the property being 5,300 miles away from the apartment (at least from our experience!).About a year ago, we bought a beautiful house in North FW, where our baby boy was born. We were blessed coming to Texas, fantastic work opportunities and people couldn't have been nicer to us. But not even a month ago, my husband's company was acquired, so seems like we are moving to Chicago. As an architect, you'll understand that I am not complaining, as I love large cities, their opportunities and complexity.
Isn't this a great opportunity to start renting our first house in the US? My mid-term goal is to acquire 10 residential properties in a period of 5 years. For a longer goal, I would like to start reconditioning properties, so they can increase the beauty and value of their environment and community.
If anyone can recommend me a good PM, here in the DFW area, I would really appreciate it. Looking forward to keep learning from this great community!
