Returning to the Bay Area from Boston

We are in final discussions for a job to bring us back to the Bay Area after two years. I will be working from home providing live captioning for various events, and my partner has a background in mechanical engineering and aerospace.  We have the ability to look for our first property, and are primarily interested in multifamily owner occupied homes. My family has a background in both residential and commercial real estate. I have been enjoying listening to the Bigger Pockets podcasts and am looking forward to learning more.
