Cleveland, Ohio - Accidental Landlord

Thank you everyone for having me here at BP! I live in the Cleveland area and manage my family's rental property we have in Willoughby, Ohio. We only own 1 property, and have held it for the past 8 years now. It has been quite a learning curve, but I see it as the seed to my investing career. I have learned quite a bit in the past few years and expect to learn plenty more! Good luck to every one and I hope you wish me the same. Thanks - Sir Loin -

It has indeed been positive. I have also been lucky to have great tenants. I say "lucky" because the past two sets of tenants were never properly screened and basically  accepted on good faith. Which was one of the more valuable things I have learned from this landlording experience. I understand I have been lucky but I consider myself the exception. In the future I will be conducting a more thorough screening. You only get lucky so many times, I much prefer a sure bet. Conducting a proper pre-tenancy investigation seems like a good way to kind of sure up your bet, so to speak.
