New Investor from Metro Detroit

Hello Everyone,

I've been listening to the podcast and learning from the forums for months now, and I thought it's time to introduce myself.

I’ve thought about investing in real estate for years. In the past few months, I’ve started to seriously educate myself and put together a plan. I recently passed the exam to become licenced here in Michigan.  I'm hoping to use the license to help me find buy and hold deals here in Metro Detroit.

My full time job is teaching American history to 8th graders. Unlike most people I’ve come across on these forums, I actually love my job and don’t see myself wanting to leave the teaching field. I do, however, like the idea of building some longer term wealth through real estate.

Who knows where this journey will take me, but generally speaking, I’d like to build a portfolio of rental homes that can supplement my income and help provide for my family for the long term.

More specifically, I’d like to purchase and manage at least 1 property in 2016. Most likely a single family rental in the metro Detroit area. I’ve been looking in areas like Livonia, Westland, Farmington Hills and the surrounding areas.

Thanks for taking the time to read, I'm looking forward to learning from all of the great people here at BP.

Joe
