Investing in Seattle

Hi everyone.

My goal for 2016 is to make my first investment in Real Estate. I'm located in Seattle and would like to find a property in the area. I'm also interested in partnering with someone who could potentially show me the ropes a bit. Any advice or guidance is much appreciated. I'd like to either flip a property or buy and hold/become a landlord. Thanks guys.

Hello @Peter Testa,

Welcome to the Bigger Pockets Puget Sound community. As you probably know already, Seattle is one of the hottest markets in the US right now, and the entire I-5 corridor has felt a bit of the spillover warmth. If you are inexperienced in real estate, I would highly recommend staying on the sidelines for at least a couple of months and spending time just learning while you focus on which aspect of investing most appeals to you.

You might want to look into partnering with an experienced investor for your first deal, and figure out what you would bring to the partnership that would make someone want to work with you. Do you have capital? Construction/renovation experience? Financing connections or excellent credit? Time/energy to research details and do the legwork?

Be sure to put specific questions out there for the community to answer and learn how to use keywords so as to draw the right attention to them.

Good luck, cheers!
