Newbie to REI in Charlotte, NC

Well, it's time for me to figure out how to make my money work for me.

A little about me: I just left the (field) construction industry and now have cash to invest. My 7 year goal is to have an asset portfolio that generates cash that equals or surpasses my expenses to truly have financial freedom. I plan to keep my fulltime job until (1) the assets are generating enough for the transition or (2) I'm not having fun anymore in my current job. I have a well paying job that provides a great opportunity for learning all sorts of skills (accounting, sales, and management), and I can't imagine leaving it at the moment. As a serial entrepreneur, I feel REI is going to be a critical component to my longterm play, so it's time for me to become part of the community so many talk and reference!

I work in uptown of Charlotte, NC and in the process of looking for a home for our family in the Southpark area. We just sold our only home in Richmond, VA, so for the first (and likely last time for a while) we are 100% debt free. Now I'm looking to leverage assets! :) In an optimal world, we will buy a home where we would like to stay in for the next decade, but with the current prices where they are, I think we'll end up purchasing a home that will become a rental property.

I'm looking to learn more about the Charlotte REI market and REI in general. I'm not afraid of the commercial markets, and I believe I have a decent knack for analyzing business models. I've been doing a ton of reading over the last few months, but now I'm actively looking to invest.

Let's connect!
