New here and seeking advice!

Hello everyone. My name is Carlos Sierra. Found this forum by listening to podcasts about Real Estate. I live in Garner,NC and Im looking for a change in my life. Currently I work on tugboat in the area of NYC, gone away from my family 2/3 of the year making decent money, but being gone, not enjoying life is getting to me slowly. I serve in the U.S. Coast Guard for 12 years and that how I end up in the tugboat industry. Now I'm seeking to get my Real Estate license but is impossible to get it in my current job due to the requirements in North Carolina of 5 weeks in classroom training (not allow online). My question is; Is it possible to land a job as an assistant for a Real Estate Investing company or broker without a license in the Raleigh, Durham or Garner area in North Carolina that will be willing to mentor me while I go to school and make some decent money? Or this option far from reality? I have been thinking about getting a job at Home Depot of something like that while I go to school and avoid touching my saving. (I might sound a lil desperate here). Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Have a great day.
