My name is Tom Snook. I had a bad accident mountain biking and injured my 5th lumbar disc 3 years ago. Pretty much destroyed it. I will have major fusion surgery January 25th, 2016. Due to this injury, I have retired from my job after 20 years. It's bitter sweet. I have a nice pension that I will collect every month forever. But I am only 45. My wife still works full time and we have zero debt, not even a car payment. Our mortgage payment is $1000.00 per month.

I have been interested in real estate since college but couldn't give it attention because I was focused on my career. I am laid up so that's all I have been reading about and I am psyched to begin a new career. However, I cannot make any big investment decisions until I am close to fully recovered. If you have ever been injured badly or had surgery you know recovery and caring for yourself is a full time job.

I am currently creating my buisness plan. In order to learn the buisness, I want to become a certified appraiser and real estate agent. I feel that will be a good use of my time while I recover. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
