Columbus Investor Looking to Learn

Hey guys, I'm new to this amazing forum and it has motivated me to learn everything I can about RE Investing.  I want to first start off by saying thank you to everyone who contributes and shares their knowledge here. Its truly incredible the community that has been built and I look forward to adding to it.

I found BP because I want to make my money work for me!  When we moved into our current house, we didn't sell the house we moved out of and instead rented it out.  From that point on I knew I wanted to invest in real estate, but I just didn't know exactly how to make that happen.  Fast forward 2 years and I'm more motivated then I've ever been!  My goals are very straight forward. I want to acquire rental properties which bring in passive income of $5,000 monthly and allow my wife to stop working. I would like to accomplish this through purchasing multifamily properties or distressed single family houses.

I know this won't happen overnight, but I believe this is attainable in a 4-6 year time horizon by making the right decisions.  The first important decision I made was joining BP, but to really move forward I know I need to network and meet other investors in the Columbus.  Any recommendations on Columbus groups, associations or events would be greatly appreciated. I'm also interested in working with a mentor who shares the same enthusiasm and dedication to doing something they love. This will not be a one way relationship and I know we can BOTH learn significantly from each other.  I have the cash, enthusiasm and basics of the industry down, but if there is any investors out there that would be willing to meet for coffee, lunch or a beer please reach out and I promise not to take too much of your time.

Thanks again everyone! Looking forward to interacting on the forums.

-Doug
