Hello, My name is Scott. I'm 25 years old and from New Zealand. I have been living in Australia away from my family since age 18 and the move was for better education opportunities.
I had a passion for games and studied interactive digital media in Australia for 2 years and when I turned 20 I finished my course but lost that passion and no longer wanted a job making games. Since turning 18 I always knew I wanted to buy a house and at that point only knew for that you needed money... lots of money.
So I spent the next 3-4 years in limbo, not knowing what career path to take so I just worked with the goal of saving for a 20% deposit. I was so focused on that goal that when I reached it I had no idea what to do next, with my low, part-time income I didn't have borrowing power and wouldn't be able to make repayments. So I just sat on the money.
I then thought "now that I have a deposit, I need knowledge... lots of knowledge". So I decided to take a diploma in agency management and property services, which led me to researching property investment and eventually biggerpockets.com. I plan to have my course finished by the end of 2015 but recently have been employed by a company with good growth prospects so unsure whether I will pursue a job as an agent as I only wanted the job for the knowledge it would bring.
At this point, my passion for games has all but dried up and as that was one of the few thing I identified with and made most of my friends through. My time is now rather empty, save for exercising and study. With a job on the horizon that can support a mortgage or two (I live very frugal) i'm turning to biggerpockets.com for the knowledge and experience I need to get into the housing market.
