Hello everyone, I feel like I have so much to say, I hope I won't be rambling too much.

For as long as I can remember I've always planned on getting into REI! this feels like a great first step.

I am 33, recently married (this summer) and I think that's putting a bit of a sense of urgency to getting started.

We are currently renting in Queens (Long Island City), but am also on Long Island a lot and was thinking to maybe start investing there.

I own a small business which has been good to me for since I started it 10 years ago and since it allows me to make my own schedule I think it's a great fit with what I want to be doing.

A couple of years ago I made an investment in a new construction (residential/rental and commercial) building which is going up in Astoria, and am hoping to get my initial investment back in the next 6-8 months. I guess I thought I would learn more from that investment, but I've just ended up being more of a silent partner... It was my fault for not actively visiting the construction site and trying to learn at every step like I had originally planned.

I think my goals are realistic, I don't expect to get rich over-night or anything like that. I am planning to keep up my current business going while doing more and more REI.

My plan had always been to flip, but I can't help but feel like that's going to be a little tough in this NY market and so it's hard to know where to begin (I have a best friend in the Charlotte area and we are considering starting this up together possibly down there).

Ideally my long term plan is to hold some properties as this is my retirement plan really.

I've been reading a lot, and listening to many podcasts, my immediate plans are to get my RE license (for MLS access) and join networking groups in LI and NYC.

Nice to meet everyone!

Roy
