Newbie from NY looking to gain knowledge

Good evening all!! My name is Stephanie, and I am from upstate NY. I recently (this week!!) lost my full-time job with the local school district, which was my only means of providing solely for my 3 daughters! I was very upset about this, but i am now taking it as a sign that now is the time for me to jump into, what has been a dream of mine for many years now, REAL ESTATE! 

I have no background experience in Real Estate, but am eager to learn everything I can about it! There are so many different avenues, that I don't even know where to begin! 

Realistically, i would love to become a landlady, and flip houses. I am aware that there are ways to go about do these things with little of my own money involved, however, I must do more research on this topic! 

I would love to be pointed in the right direction of what my first step should be!
