Carl Ghiselli - real estate in Indianapolis, living in London!
Hi all - I'm Carl Ghiselli, a new member to the Bigger Pockets website. I invest / flip / do real estate in Indianapolis and Chicago, but currently live in London, in the UK. I haven't always lived overseas - hence the investments in the US, but it has been a relatively recent development that has changed the way that both and and my partners work together.
I am a part-time real estate investor, working a full-time job as a consultant for a large firm. As such, I go through a lot of the same trials as most other beginner real estate investors as I try to prioritize the right things to make the most of my time.
We own a couple of buy-and-hold properties, and our long term goal is to grow that part of the business to have good passive income, with an eye towards an early retirement (though that's still a good 30 years away!). Our buy and hold properties are currently single family and small multi-family (3 units and below). We've started looking at larger buildings as well - really looking toward the future here as we set our goals.
We are also currently trying to do more fix and flips as well - to build the capital we need to grow the buy and hold side of the business. This has really taught us a ton as we try to market, find new deals and get the deals we want within the parameters we are looking for. Marketing and the sales side is an interesting analytical proposition, and we're trying everything to get traction. Always looking for new ways to grow the pipeline and expand the universe of deal flow!
Obviously my problems are not new, but it always seems like it is to me - hence joining the BP website - I'd like to cut out as much learning as possible through experiences of others, and share what I've learned through this forum as well!
Glad to have joined and to be a part of it, and I look forward to interacting with everyone here!
