Long Island Investor (Fighting My Way Back)

Wanted to take a second to introduce myself, my name is John Pierro, I live on Long Island and had lots of success in flipping Short Sales and REO's. I started Investing in 2009 and was doing very well negotiating and flipping Short Sales. In July 2011 while out canvassing a neighborhood, I was jumped by 3 guys and I was beaten pretty badly, sustaining injuries to my head and spinal cord. I've been struggling ever since to get myself back to being the man I was before and providing for my wife and kids again. I am ready to take my life back. So today I'm back, after 4 plus years. I'm sure a lot has changed, so my goal is to re-educate myself with the help of people like you, who are currently having success investing in Realestate. I'm sure the market has changed since my last flip in June 2011. I have accomplished the first step on the road back by securing all cash backing, so now I'm looking to choose the niche that is working best in the current real-estate market. Any help in pointing me in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
