New to all things investing
My name is Trey Whitlock and I live northeast of the Dallas metroplex in a small rural community. I've done everything wrong, as far as investing is concerned, for 49 years. I've had 401K's that I've cashed out because of downturns in my employment. I've sold houses that I've owned and usually took a loss on them because I was selling at the wrong time but I had no choice. Back in the early 2000's I was in a real estate investment group that turned out to be a scam that I got friends and family to get into. (That one was pretty ugly.) Pretty much if you can name it, I've done it wrong. I've downsized myself and my family so far in the last few years that I'm just not willing to go any lower.
Currently I am working for myself but my income is extremely low as I'm trying to get a business off the ground. I would like to use it to get into buying properties but I just don't know how feasible that is yet.
I picked up a copy of Rich Dad Poor Dad at a garage sale recently and after reading it I've decided it all ends now. I'm going to spend the next 6 months, or however long it takes, learning how to invest in real estate and do it the right way. Right now I have no money but that doesn't seem to stop people from buying properties and building assets. I found this site and from what I've seen so far it has a lot of good information in it for someone starting out. And that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
