I am currently working as a Civil engineering technician for a mid sized engineering company.  For the past 14 years this has been a great career with a decent earning potential.  My real passion, I've come to discover, is my side business that I've been building over the past 8 years.  I now own about 48 units, ranging from single family to 18 units.  This is the direction I see in my future, continuing to purchase Real Estate in the Des Moines Metro and expand to other markets.  To this day, my partners and I have self managed all units, all while holding full time jobs.  It has become clear that in order to grow I will have to let some of this responsibility go and hire a management company, to pick up some of this responsibility while I grow my portfolio.
