Green Pea from Detroit Metro area

My name is Allan I'm originally from Kalamazoo MI. I am a family man who has spent the last 15 years in California and just recently moved back to Michigan (Detroit area). I have been in sales management for the past 15 years and rubbed elbows with some wealthy business people/investors over the years which all seem to have the same core (real estate). So i am here to get educated and connected so I can claim my slice of the pie!

Bought a house in Tucson (military family) in 04. After a transfer to CA in 2008 was forced to rent because the market took a dive. Negative cashflowed for 4 years, beyond what tax incentives could offset. So I short sold. Just bought a single family in Chesterfield MI in May of this year, which I will eventually use it as a 3 year live and flip or rent it out for a positive cashflow this time.

My main goal is to restart properly! Which lies the biggest challenge for myself as well as others I assume. There are so many methods to investing strategies that its pretty overwhelming. Roughly speaking as of now I would like to buy a few cheapies to flip to get some working capital and cherry pick the best for a buy and hold strategy to generate a nice passive cashflow for years to come.

I am seeking seasoned mentors or REI clubs in my area to help get the vibe of the area and a better understanding of the processes of flipping and buy and hold strategies from a hands on perspective.

Thanks in advance for the help and encouragement.
