New Member in Washington, DC metro area
Hi All,
I wanted to use this post to introduce myself. I found this site surfing the internet for good real estate books ( am currently working through the 21 best real estate books suggested by BP!) as well as a listener of the podcasts.
I currently reside in the Washington, DC metro area but am looking to buy and hold 2-4 unit single family properties in the Pittsburgh, PA area. Having gone to University of Pittsburgh I am more familiar with the area and am attracted to the relative affordability. I understand as a newbie this isn't easy but would like to explore this as a possibility.
I look forward to connecting with everyone and especially if you're around the Pittsburgh or Washington, DC metro area!
Thanks.

Welcome. Take a good look at student housing see below.
Locate and attend 3 different local REIA club meetings great place to meet people gather resources and info. Here you will meet wholesalers who provide deals and rehabbers (cash buyers). Find them through Google and meetup.com
Two Great reads, I bought both J. Scott The Book on Flipping Houses, The Book on Estimating ReHab Costs http://www.biggerpockets.com/flippingbook
Consider checking out HUD homes for small multi's owner occupied gets first crack.
You might consider Niche or Specialized Housing like student housing. Rents can be 2-4 times more. Remember you don't have to own a property to control it.
Download BP’s newest book here some good due diligence in Chapter 10. Real Estate Rewind Starting over
Good Luck
