New Investor from Atlanta / Savannah, Georgia
Hello BP community my name is Eric Scott, and I'm originally from Savannah but live in Atlanta, GA. My background is in commercial construction for $250+ projects. Throughout my short 7 year career, I have always been extremely interested in real estate investing, mostly house flipping. I have experience in construction project scheduling/control and BIM design/estimates. I believe this may be beneficial into transitioning into my real estate investing career. I am teaming up with my girlfriend, who also has a MS in building construction, to invest in properties in primarily Savannah, Atlanta, Macon and Augusta. Her dad owns a construction company in VA and owns maybe 30 properties there.
I have been self educating myself on biggerpockets and with various books for the past year. My biggest challenge to date is trying to investigate which areas will be best for us to invest in. I am familiar with Savannah since I was raised there and travel to twice a month and also Atlanta since I have been living here for 10 years now. I am also considering Macon and Augusta since there are close. I have concerns as to if now is a good time to invest in real estate within these markets or if I may have missed the right opportunity. If so, I think I would be more interested in flipping since I really like designing and construction.
We will be forming a company for our real estate endeavors. My short term goal for my company is to focus on estate rehabs/buy-hold to get to the point where we can quit our day jobs. My long term goal for my company is to eventually be able to build my higher end homes. Anyways, happy to now be taking a step forward to connect with the community and making any connections that may come about.
