Hi, I am from ATL, Georgia. Worked all my life and haven't gotten much to show for it. I have no experience in RE, and have only $2K saving. I am here to learn as much as I can. By the way, what do you think of the flipping seminars? I attended SuccessPath Event- Flip or Flop. I am not sure about them... has anyone attended their 3 day training? Was it sufficient to start a business? Thanks

Welcome to the BP community @Maryam Frazier! Congratulations on finding BP and posting your question before wasting your money on some stupid guru program. Allow me to save you from seminar salesmen.

Not all seminar programs are totally worthless, but most of them do not give you the bang for your buck that they claim. I've personally attended a Flip or Flop sales presentation held in my area. My opinion was that all of the approximately 2000 people in the room would be well served to get up out of their chairs and back away careful repeating the following mantra, "no, not interested, no, not interested,...." I, of course, did not spend $2,000 on their offering. In fact I met a friend who so happened to be there. She was becoming seduced by the siren song of easy wealth for a mere $1,997 and an waterproof, money-back guarantee.

So, how do you get started in real estate investing? I'm glad you asked. Do this:

  • Download and read @Brandon Turner's book, "The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Real Estate Investing".
  • Go to the Learn tab above and starting listening to the BP podcasts and the AskBP podcasts. (The AskBP podcasts are quicker and very specific.)
  • You've found the forums, now start clicking and reading, then asking a lot of questions. Get your count of posts up.
  • Go on MeetUp.com and look for real estate investing associations, then go meet others face to face. Most of them will be doing what you are looking for a way to get started.
  • Take Action! Do something to build your investment business everyday. That could be as simple as meeting another investor or listening to a BP podcast.

Be willing to make some mistakes and be hungry to learn. You're in the right place. Use this resource and keeping going forward. We'll see you at the top!
