Hey everybody. My name is Matt Krump living in Chicago. We've been here a few years. I joined biggerpockets on the recommendation of a friend. My wife and I are looking to buy our first home. We're interested in the idea of buying a small multi-family (2-4 units), which we'd live in as well. Not sure if we'll do it, but the idea is really interesting to us.

We currently live just West of the Loop and really like the areas West and NW of the Loop. I think we're pretty open to all of the neighborhoods in that area, but Humboldt, Avondale, and Irving Park seem the most plausible for what we have in mind (at least for multi-family, single-family would probably include more W/NW neighborhoods). Let me know if there other areas that people have had success with. Our current lease isn't up until next year, but I wanted to get the ball rolling. I’ve really been enjoying listening to the podcast and reading forum posts!
