New to Bigger Pockets, Buy and Hold+ in Upstate of South Carolina
Hi! I'm Keren and my husband and I currently have 8 rental properties in the Greenville, South Carolina area, and live about 30 minutes away from the downtown area.
Neither of us grew up with any financial background or training. (Sex and money were pretty much forbidden topics in both of our homes.) We've been able to learn from some mistakes, but have also really grown in our passion for educating ourselves in these fields in recent years.
We have four young kids (ages 8 months to 7 years), so that keeps us fairly busy, but also drives us to put the work smart, hard, and right now. My husband works several remote jobs with SEO, digital marketing, and freelance writing, which we funnel into real estate. I am at home with our kids, and do some freelance work when able. Mostly, I do the scouting for our properties.
Our goal is to create at least a 6-figure cash flow from our rental properties so that we can focus more on our family life and other passions (including flipping and further REI). We hope to have 2-3 properties paid off by the end of this year, and would like to own at least 12 single family (rentals)/100K annual cashflow (gross) by the end of 2016.
We are also considering adding a vacation rental sometime soon, likely in South Carolina, as well. We may do this by making it our primary residence at first (our non-REI income is location-independent). (I'd also love to own a property near downtown Greenville that I can use as a AirBnB rental! :))
We live in a great area for REI, but hope all the great deals don't go away before we have a chance to invest a little more! :)
I'm also working my way through the BP podcasts. 12 down, 100+ to go! :)
Looking forward to learning even more through the forums and connections here!
Keren
