Hello everyone,
I am Jason - Broker/Realtor from Fresno CA. I love this site because indeed there is a lot of crazy hype out there. Real estate investing courses/gurus/experts come and go just like the weight loss and diet programs - most are worthless. Anyway, I have been listening to the podcasts - all of them - and it was enough to make me want to connect with some of you on a professional level so here I am. Thanks so much for the responses and well wishers... Frank, today I own 0 real estate.
[Short life story ] Worked at Orange Julius, Verizon Wireless, did the 7 Year plan at Fresno State - decided in 2001 that I did not like working retail - bought the book that everyone on the podcasts mentions (Rich Dad Poor Dad) - and jumped right in via maxing my credit out buying SFR's in the tower district here in Fresno. In 2002 I bought the Carlton Sheets course and some Ron Legrand & Charlie / Randy France Subject To Courses. Back in the hey-day of 2005 I owned 6 SFR's as rentals. Decided I was "rich" and sold them all by 2006 and traveled the world. [Bought toys ] Had fun but spent the real estate earnings on things Robert Kiyosaki would not approve of. Did get my Brokers license a little later and did not do much as a Realtor by late 2006 and 2007 when the market was no longer appreciating and I just got lazy to be honest. Then by 2008 I was into another business altogether. Have absolutely kicked myself when family/friends called me to list their house and I was not in the business. Right now I am focused on SFR investment real estate sales for the benefit of my clients and when the times is right I will re-build my portfolio.
Cheryl, thanks, right now the $350,000 price point would be north of Herndon and or Clovis North areas - most of the fix/flip properties are still in the $90,000 -$150,000 range in central Fresno / Madera.
