New to BP and RE Investing from Smiths Station, AL

My name is Donnie McGriff and I look forward to becoming an active poster on BP as well as an active investor in my area.  I think the community of people at BP is extremely positive/unique and I look forward to becoming someone who can help others out similarly to how I have already been helped.  I found BP by accident when googling a general RE question and I was hooked.

I am relatively new to RE investing and my goal is to build up a rental portfolio for consistent cash flow.  I will not disregard any niche though because I would like to have some versatility in my investment strategies. 

The only property I own is the SFH that I reside in with my bride in Smiths Station, AL. We are diligently looking for our first investment property and have considered many SFH and some duplexes in our area (having trouble finding duplexes for sale in my area).

The areas I am interested in investing are my hometown, Phenix City, Auburn, and Opelika, AL.  I am also learning the Columbus and Fort Benning, GA areas and would love to network/invest in these areas as well.

If you are from the any of the aforementioned areas and want to meet up reply or message me.  As far as I know from searching BP and on google there is no active investor meetings near by except for in Atlanta and Montgomery, AL.  Maybe we can get a group of local people to meet up regularly.
