Newbie moving to Midland, TX

Hi Everyone!

I just joined BP and am looking forward to learning more about real estate. I will be graduating college tomorrow and moving to Midland, TX for a job in Oil & Gas (engineering) in June. In the meantime I'm doing all I can to learn (including listening to podcasts, reading books, etc.)and would really appreciate any advice or information anyone is willing to share to help me continue my learning before (what I believe) I have some capital to invest with. I'm excited to venture into real estate as it is one of the few investments that can give financial freedom and can be rewarding as well.

Any thoughts or recommendations to start would be very appreciated!

Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing your reply!

@Ian Wilson

Welcome. You might check out the need for "Man Camps" housing for the field workers in oil and gas.

Locate and attend 3 different local REIA club meetings great place to meet people gather resources and info. Here you will meet wholesalers who provide deals and rehabbers (cash buyers).

Two Great reads, I bought both J. Scott The Book on Flipping Houses, The Book on Estimating ReHab Costs http://www.biggerpockets.com/flippingbook

Consider checking out HUD homes for small multi's owner occupied gets first crack.

Download BP’s newest book here some good due diligence in Chapter 10. Real Estate Rewind Starting over
