New Member from the Baton Rouge, Louisiana Area

Hello Everyone, 

My name is Shayne Cooper and I live a little south of Baton Rouge, LA. I'm new to the Real Estate Investment world and happened upon BP while searching the internet for information to get started. I'm currently working as a Control Systems Engineer/Technician for my primary source of income. I enjoy what I do but it does involve a lot of travel, and travel for work is a lot different than travel for leisure. 

My goal for my wife and I is to be financially free in 10 years from the date of our first deal (which hasn't happened yet). My wife is very supportive of my decision to get started with real estate investing and we are currently saving for our first deal. We want to take our time and do this right. I want to get started with rental properties (buy and hold?) in order to get some cashflow per month. Once we get to that point I wouldn't mind branching out and trying flips, wholesale, etc.  I hope to learn a lot from the lessons of other investors and am looking forward to interacting with everyone!
