Hi Everyone

I'm new to BP and am truly grateful to have such a wonderful resource available to me.

This site has already helped me in a number of ways, and I've been pleasantly surprised by how well the insights and truisms of this RE community apply to other industries and walks of life.

I call New Jersey home - born, raised, and educated. It's been nearly two years since I graduated from college with a degrees in economics and psychology, and my time since has been split between two blue chip corporations in the energy space.

I have always had a deep-seated zeal for business, and have worked since a young age. Despite nice perks and a steady paycheck, I have quickly realized that a nine-to-five lifestyle is not enough for me. After allowing myself time to "grow up", or assimilate, my gut feeling has only been substantiated: I strive to be an owner acting on a vision, not strictly a manager or practitioner under contract. RE investment/services appears to be an excellent gateway to this pursuit and lifestyle; I've been looking down the rabbit hole and am ready to jump. I can already tell that there is a great body of people on this site with similar values, which has already fueled me to accomplish a great deal of learning.

My plan is to purchase multifamily homes in tertiary markets surrounding the NY/Philadelphia region, where I can maintain positive cash flow month by month while building equity. I want experience with other vehicles and strategies over time, so that I might be able to wholesale, partner on, finance, or invest in special situations if the right opportunities come around. I'm so new to this, that I'd be foolish to declare my niche "found". However, I have an idea of where I'd like to begin.

A key goal of mine is to have $50,000 in after-tax, authentically passive income - to travel the world, to take care of my parents one day, and to free myself from the unenviable position of being locked into a job strictly for the income, a debt, or the expectations of others.

Thanks for checking me out. Good luck, and I look forward to hearing from you.

David, thanks for the note. Lincroft is not far from where I'm at in Red Bank. I'll certainly be taking you up on that advice. May I ask if there are any REI groups that you might recommend? I was prepared to go to the BP Central Jersey meetup in Belmar last week, but it was rescheduled. Also, I checked out your company's FB page and your latest flip looks great.
