Hello from Regina, SK!
Hey BP!
I'm Aizaz, and I always had an interest in RE. I never got to cultivate my interest enough, thinking I'd be too young and would need a full time job/some money to boot. So instead, I started learning more about capital markets when I was 18 while in university. I traded stocks, and mostly currencies since then - I'm turning 25 in a week.
Have to say, stumbling upon BP is the best thing in a while. It's giving me renewed energy to pursue RE more seriously now. I'm single, I'm working full time (property tax analyst for the municipal gov - gotta count for something?) and enjoy crunching numbers. Oh and my experience in digging around in the capital markets has taught me a few things about due diligence.
Would love to keep on learning and eventually take action within this year. [Maybe I should start a blog on here for my journey to keep myself accountable?]. But other than that, would love to network with fellow Canadians and Americans as it is always a pleasure to mingle with like minded individuals and discuss/learn things we're passionate about.
Side note: currently don't have a clue on what strategies I want to start with. I have a buddy who's interested in RE investing too, wants to be a partner and flip houses, but I think I want to start with a house hack first and then flip. He owns a duplex type place though, while I currently rent.
Edit: forgot to mention that I moved to Regina under a year ago, from Toronto area (Mississauga). So I do travel back and forth every few months :)
