Newbie from Shelby, NC

Hi everyone. My name is Jeff Heavner and I found this site by Googling 'lease/options contract'. I'm from Shelby, NC; I attended UNC-Charlotte where I received my BA in history (I had planned on attending law school at the University of Georgia; however, it seems the market is saturated with attorneys); and I am an operations manager for Steag Energy Services, LLC in Kings Mountain, NC.

I am interested in lease/options as a vehicle to rehab/flip a few residential properties (price range of $50,000 to $80,000 within the Shelby, NC area) and would like to eventually begin building my long-term investment portfolio with rental properties (small, single-family homes). 

I am a hands-on type of guy and I enjoy working on different projects so I believe rehabbing homes, and real estate in general, may be the perfect investment tool for me.
