Hello, and good evening fellow real estate investors. My name is Jeremy Sarnowski and I'm a brand new investor who heard about Bigger Pockets by doing some of my own research and Google searching: how to invest in real estate. One of the top results was a thread titled "How to start investing in real estate at a young age," and that's what really drew my attention, as I am a 24 year old trying to begin investing in not only real estate, but my and my families future. As previously stated, my name is Jeremy Sarnowski and I'm a 24 year old newbie to investing as a whole. I'm originally from Wisconsin, but I am a Soldier stationed in Alaska and on orders to Washington by the end of the year where I plan on beginning my real estate investing business by investing in a duplex and living in one half and renting the other out (hopefully that's a good strategy to begin with). Any and all advice is more than welcome and even more-so appreciated! Thank you all for your time in reading my introduction of myself to Bigger Pockets, and I hope to get to know all of you very soon!

Welcome @Jeremy Sarnowski and let me begin by thanking you for your service!

So are you going to be stationed at JBLM?  Lots of great investing going on around that Tacoma area!

Your strategy of buying a duplex, living in one side and renting the other, is probably one of the best beginner strategies out there!  @Brandon Turner coined the term "House Hacking" to describe using your personal residence as an investment property.
