New to REI from Belleville, IL

I'm Ames Foley from Belleville, IL.  One might call it part of the greater St. Louis area.  I am just starting out in investing.  I have one property and I am working on my second.  Both are multi-family.  I am wanting to learn as much as I can about the industry so that I can make the best decisions.  I am looking forward to great discussions with other like minded investors.

@Ames Foley Congrats on finding the site! You'll find a wealth of information here. One thing I struggled with initially was being caught up in shiny object syndrome. There is so much to find on this site, and so many ways to be profitable in real estate, that I kept getting distracted by new things.

Since you are in the area, why don't you join us at the Metro East Real Estate Investors Association meeting this Monday? I'm a member there (not on the board, just a member) and have really enjoyed the content they deliver. 

They are a little behind the times on technology (the website is stale and FB group is quiet) but the meetings have a lot of great information and excellent guest speakers. I just posted an article about it on my website if you want details and an honest opinion about the group. I recently spoke to the secretary of the group about helping them improve their online presence, so maybe we'll see this improve in the near future.
