Hello all!

My name I Michael, I'm 34, and I'm from good 'ol ridiculously expensive LI, NY :-)

I'm currently working in IT and have at this time zero experience in Real Estate. However, I'm beyond interested and came across BiggerPockets during one of my search sessions on RE/REI. This site is fantastic and after reading about the community and the plethora of information here I decided to join up.

I'm beyond sick of being chained to a desk working for a salary that doesn't change no matter how hard or little I work.  I've always been interested in RE but over the years always told myself that it was too late, and I was too old to get started.  Now that I've gotten past that hurdle in my head my latest hold up is wondering just how I'm going to be able to do it in this expensive market.

That being said, I'm more than determined to make this work. I want the flexibility, the rewards, the challenges, and the comfortable lifestyle that a successful venture in REI can provide. Finding this site was like a godsend for me, and I plan on continuing to read the wealth of information that this site and it's community can provide.

That being said, I welcome any words anyone may have about my concern for making this a success here in LI.  Does the expensive market here make it more difficult for someone to get started in?  Or should I just face down my fears, plan properly, acquire the necessary knowledge, and go forth and make my future what I really want it to be?? :-)

Anyway, nice to meet you all, looking very much forward to speaking with many of you, and thank you in advance for any words of advice you may have to offer!

Regards,

Michael
