Hey everyone,

My name is Matt and I just signed up. I currently live in Long Island, New York with my father. I finished my Masters degree in Engineering 2 years ago and have been saving up to purchase my first real estate property. I want to move to north New Jersey and find a 2 family home somewhere in Union City to both live in and rent.

I am having difficulty getting a mortgage because I have had 3 jobs in the last 2 years, one of which was being self employed. I currently earn a very solid salary for someone my age and I would have no problem paying a standard 30 year mortgage on a $400k investment.

I would appreciate any advice from members with experience in the New Jersey area.

Thanks again and I look forward to learning as much as I can from this great forum.

-Matt
