Pro BMXer turned real estate obsessed

Hey everyone! Happy to be a part of this site. When it comes to real estate I am about as fresh as they get. However I've been studying general investing for about a year now. I call Greenville, Nc my home for now and this is where I want to get started. A little background about me, I'm 32 years old and extremely motivated. Since the age of 20 my profession (and main source of income) has been through bmx riding. I've had a long and insanely fun career but it wasn't making me rich and certainly isnt anything I'm going to be retiring off of. So I started reading up on investing and it's since landed me here on Bigger Pockets and real estate seems to be my new found passion. I consider myself a great talker and overall a natural people person. I feel like networking is second nature to me. In fact, I absolutely love the process and high of meeting a like minded person who I can share ideas with. I've surrounded myself with people that brought me down or at best, kept me complacent for way too long. I look forward to meeting you all and jump starting my real estate education and network here through this site. Please feel free to chime in and ask me any questions or pass along any advice you feel I should know. Thanks so much!

thanks! From what I've been reading that seems to be the case where people just drop out after the initial excitement wears off. I have nothing to lose and lots to gain so I plan to stay excited. I have a lead on a couple properties already that I would like to wholesale. An old friend of mine owns a couple of houses here in town that he rented out for a while. He now lives in California and after a couple of awful interactions with property managers in the area they are now vacant and stressing him out.  He is just ready to get them sold and move on with his west coast operator.  If anyone wants to know more please message me and I'll explain! Could be a great first deal but then again the numbers may not work out. I'm learning!
