Lurker turned poster from New York

Hello everyone,

I found BP about a few months ago by accident when I was looking for RE advice on rehabs, and have been lurking the forums since then, plus listening to the podcasts whenever I can. I have to hand it to the BP team for putting these resources together - it really is a gold mine here (literally!)

As some background, I'm part time landlord managing 3 units in Long Island, NY at the moment. Being based out of NY and not feeling comfortable with long distance investing (even though I AM interested), it's just not possible to do what many have described in the podcast (i.e. by a house for 5 or low-6 figures in cash :p - just impossible in Long Island!) I do see RE as my long term retirement plan via buying + renting out multi-family houses.

In any event, just wanted to make an account, say hello, and hopefully contribute back to the community soon! Thanks again to all of you on BP - and hope you all have a happy and productive 2015!

Hey Steven,

Welcome to the site.   I also live on long island.  hope this site helps you meet your goals.  I agree, long island is a tough market.   I would try to read and talk to people on here about the best way to buy out of town properties.  Cash flow is very tight where we are.

   Good luck!
