Newbie from League City, Texas

Hello, my name is John Chapman. I'm from Houston, TX. but now live in a small town south of Houston called League City. It's the halfway point between Houston and Galveston very close to the water. I've been in the scaffold business for over 20 years and the only experience I have in real estate is buying my house. I've been interested in real estate for several years but watching my dad and brother struggle at times has always made me fear it. They have been in commercial real estate for many years. Wholesaling has caught my attention lately but also owning rental property in the future interest me. I just finished reading a book on Wholesaling and sounds simple enough, I just need to start.

@John Chapman - I live in League City. This is a great area for rentals and flips. IMO, the rental market is very strong right now due to all of the layoffs. Oil and gas workers bought McMansions and then were laid off and had to go through foreclosure. They aren't in a good place to obtain another mortgage, but they still want to have good schools. As you know, clear creek schools are excellent. This is the area I am mostly focused on, and the quality of the tenant should be excellent.

In addition, the port of Houston is killing it! I recently read an article about the amount of money made in support of and due to the port. It is staggering. And league city is a nice little 10-15 minute drive.

Feel free to hit me up if you want to swap ideas.

@Guy Gimenez - feel free to contact me if you want to talk about anything in this area. , or bounce some ideas around. I grew up here and live here and I am very comfortable with the area. Northern Galveston county is poised for some great movement and I am excited to be a part of it.
