Newbie moving to Charlotte, NC

Hello,

Really brand new to this. My wife and I currently live in Oakland, are moving to Charlotte and are looking for a Duplex to live in while we get started there. We'd originally saved for our own home, but we hate our jobs, so we thought live-in rental property might expedite financial freedom. It seems like if both units would be cash flow positive if we rented, living in one would be a no-brainer, we-dont-pay-for-housing-anymore type scenario.

Would love to hear any stories about that specific scenario, success stories, failure stories, things I'm not considering, pitfalls, how what I just said is a  dumb thing to say out loud, and how dumb I am for having said it, and, once I know as much as you do, how I'll be very embarrassed about this whole thing.

Thanks!
