Greetings everyone from Texas! I wanted to introduce myself as I am completely new to real estate investing but am eager to finally get started (hopefully not too terribly late at 42 years of age). I live in the North Texas area and have a wife and three kids (all girls) with a good corporate job in the financial services industry. For my free time I am a private pilot who loves to go flying when I get a chance and then keeping up with kids with any leftover free time.

My goal is to eventually find freedom from corporate america by purchasing and holding single family residential properties to rent. My specific goal is to acquire 10 properties over the next 5 years although I am not experienced enough to determine if this is overly optimistic given current conditions. I am fortunate that my credit is extremely good and I have been able to save a healthy amount that I can utilize during this process. The trick is going to be learning how to use that capital and credit wisely to maximize my opportunity. That is why I am here - to learn all I can and put the knowledge I gain to good use. I have read through the guide and will be posting a couple initial questions I have to get me headed in the right direction.

From what I have seen, this is an amazing community dedicated to helping others succeed and I could not be more excited to be a part of it!

Shawn
